Thinking of introducing GarageBand (iPad) in your music classroom?
These lesson plans provide a step-by-step guide on how to conduct the module in an interesting and engaging manner! Teaching GarageBand may be intimidating for many teachers but, with this guide, you'll have a clear idea on how to do it!
The module stretches across 6 weeks but they may be lengthened depending on the classes you teach. It's targeted at students between 10-16 year old.
In this module, students will learn about the defining features of a pop arrangement. Then, they will be guided to create their own pop arrangement on the iPad.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
· Identify the drum set, electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar and piano in a pop song
· Explain, in their own words, the difference between melody and accompaniment
· Describe the structure of a pop song
· Identify the intro, verse, chorus, bridge and outro of pop songs
· Record and arrange their very own pop song using GarageBand. This arrangement should contain an intro, verse, chorus and outro. It should include (but is not limited to) the use of the drums, bass guitar and guitar.
Content:
The package consists mainly of lesson plans which are instructions on how the lesson can be conducted.

Important:
The package requires the teacher to know the basics of GarageBand on the iPad in order to deliver the content of the lesson.
Pupils are expected to have access to the iPad and software for the lesson.
Lessons 1 - 2 are very detailed as they include special activities which require special explanations.
Lessons 3 - 6 are written in a slightly more summarised manner but still include step-by-step instructions. You may email me if further clarification is required.
